ALICE Cooper wants Johnny Depp for his touring band after the actor jammed with him on stage during a recent London club show.
The perennial hard rock star told Depp if he ever quits acting to join him on the road.
"He started out being a musician when he first came to LA," Cooper said. "He ended up getting a room with a guy called Nicolas Cage, who took him along to an (acting) audition and Johnny Depp got the part.
"I asked him if he wanted to play with us in London and he comes down to rehearsal with his amp and guitar. He had them with him! He's a real guitar player."
Cooper, whose Sydney fans nicked a giant billboard of him promoting his Enmore Theatre concert last week, credits never smoking and long-distance running in his youth for his long career.

"I think some people come to the show expecting me to come out in a walker," the 63-year-old rocker said. "I am doing a harder-rocking show now than I did in the '70s.
Cooper, who insists on playing all his hits in his set, said too many rock and pop productions rely on effects instead of the artist's talent.
"What I don't like is people buying a show rather than creating one," he said.
"You can go to Hollywood and get lights and explosions and lasers but that's not a show."
